Mechanical Technician at Farmer’s Choice

Mechanical Technician role at Farmer’s Choice. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and production machinery. Requires a relevant mechanical engineering qualification and practical maintenance experience. The role is based in Nairobi with duties performed on-site.

Job Purpose:

Provide reliable, timely, and hands-on mechanical maintenance support to keep production machinery, utilities, and mechanical systems operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns and minimize production disruption.
• Diagnose faults using systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Repair, replace, adjust, and modify machinery and mechanical components.
• Execute planned preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and alignment.
• Maintain production machinery, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and drives.
• Record breakdowns, repairs, downtime, and corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.

• Mechanical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
• Preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Mechanical fitting, alignment, and installations.
• Strong safety and food-hygiene awareness.
• Teamwork, professionalism, and clear communication.
• Fabrication and welding experience is an added advantage.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years’ relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
• FMCG, food-processing, or manufacturing experience preferred.
