Reports to: Resident Medical Officer In-Charge
Job Objective
To provide accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic imaging services including X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scans in accordance with established protocols, safety standards, and hospital policies to support effective diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scan imaging procedures with
high diagnostic value. - Ensure patients are well-informed, adequately prepared, and comfortable before and during
procedures. - Maintain radiation safety standards and ensure a clean, hygienic imaging environment.
- Generate, review, and dispatch accurate patient imaging reports in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report equipment faults, and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair.
- Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping: daily imaging registers, requisition
orders, delivery notes, and invoice files. - Participate in monthly stock taking of films, reagents, and consumables, and support
procurement processes. - Advise clinicians on appropriate imaging protocols and assist with clinical decisionmaking when needed.
- Contribute to hospital service promotion and community outreach efforts.
- Forward recommendations for service improvements to departmental management.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional:
- Diploma or Higher Diploma in Radiology, Sonography, or Medical Imaging
- Sciences from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Radiation Protection Board (RBP) and membership in the
Society of Radiographers Kenya (SORK). - Certificate in computer applications.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on experience in radiography and sonography within a clinical or hospital setting.
