The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for efficiently analyzing project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, and contributing to effective cost management for projects, ensuring they stay within budget and align with project specifications.

Project Analysis:

  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to comprehensively understand project requirements.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions to optimize project budgets.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to clarify project scopes and objectives.

Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare precise and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, encompassing materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses. + direct and indirect expense
  • Quantification and verification of quantities submitted by contractors.
  • Evaluation of pricing based on prevailing market rates in Kenya.
  • Preparation and development of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for various projects.
  • Utilize specialized estimation software and tools to facilitate accurate cost calculations.

Tender Preparation:

  • Develop comprehensive tender documents that include detailed cost breakdowns, schedules, and relevant project information.
  • Ensure that tender submissions are completed within specified deadlines.
  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to source competitive pricing and quotations.
  • Once quotations are in forward to Procurement Team
  • Review and verification of contractors’ and subcontractors’ interim payment applications
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure alignment with project specifications.

Documentation Management:

  • Maintain meticulous records of project estimates, tenders, and related documentation.
  • Provide critical documentation support for contract negotiations and project initiation
  • Project & Execution Team Interaction
  • Interactions with Project Management Office and Execution teams
  • Contribute to effective cost control efforts to keep projects within budget.
  • Review of project cost in liaison with project teams during execution stage
  • Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and cost-effective techniques.
  • Participate actively in process enhancement initiatives to refine the estimation process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, or Diploma in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in construction project estimation with a Quantity Survey/Engineering/Construction background.
  • Experience in tender preparation and bidding is essential
  • Experience in Electrical Works
  • Proficiency in specialized estimation software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
