Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Payments Operations Specialist to manage and optimize end-to-end payment flows across card networks, local payment rails, FX providers, and banking partners.

This role is critical in ensuring transaction accuracy, settlement integrity, financial visibility, and operational reliability across our travel and embedded finance products.

Key Responsibilities

Reconciliation & Settlement

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation across:
  • Card collections
  • Virtual card issuance
  • Local rails (Mpesa, bank transfers)
  • International collections
• Investigate and resolve settlement mismatches
• Ensure accurate posting of transactions into internal systems

Transaction Monitoring & Controls

• Monitor transaction flows for anomalies, failed settlements, and revenue gaps
• Manage chargebacks and dispute resolution
• Maintain strong internal controls to reduce operational risk

Multi-Currency & FX Operations

• Reconcile FX conversions and cross-border settlements
• Work with treasury partners to track currency exposures
• Ensure accuracy in wallet balances and payout flows

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in payment operations, reconciliation, or settlement within fintech or digital payments
• Strong understanding of:
  • Card networks and settlement cycles
  • Chargebacks & dispute management
  • Multi-currency & FX flows
  • Local and international payment rails
• High proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets
• Strong data analysis capability
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Tech, and Compliance teams

Bonus:

• Experience with virtual cards
• Exposure to GDS / travel payments ecosystem

Knowledge of AML/KYC operational processes
