Tenwek Hospital is hiring a Medical Officer to examine and treat patients, diagnose medical conditions, prescribe treatment and support quality clinical services. The role is based in Nairobi and experience in clinical practice is required.

Job Purpose

  • The medical officer will provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to patients while supporting the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiovascular and other medical conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical care in accordance with established clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in the assessment, stabilization, and management of emergency and critically ill patients.
  • Review patient investigations, formulate treatment plans, and monitor patient progress.
  • Work collaboratively with Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical audits.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient medical records.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, treatment plans, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, infection prevention and control protocols, and patient safety requirements.
  • Participate in continuous medical education, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and current practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification will be an added advantage.
  • At least two (2) years of post-internship clinical experience in a busy hospital setting.
  • Experience in cardiology, emergency medicine, critical care, or internal medicine will be an added advantage.
