Mechanical Engineer – Estimator Job The Jitu Nyeri, Kenya
We are looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer – Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will prepare estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service projects while supporting service operations using Field Service Management (FSM) software . The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and be comfortable working with technology and estimating platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service work.
- Use FSM software to manage estimates, work orders, and customer records.
- Review service requests and estimate labor, materials, and project costs.
- Coordinate with field technicians to gather job information and ensure estimate accuracy.
- Support dispatch and scheduling of technicians when required.
- Monitor and update estimates, work orders, and project documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- Communicate effectively with customers, technicians, and internal teams regarding project progress.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating and service operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or home service operations.
- Experience preparing cost estimates, quotations, or service estimates.
- Experience using Field Service Management (FSM) software is highly preferred.
- Experience with estimating, dispatch, or service management software.
- Strong understanding of residential or commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software platforms.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Added Advantage
- Experience using similar Field Service Management (FSM) platforms.
- Experience in estimating and dispatching for HVAC, plumbing, or electrical service businesses.
- Knowledge of labor costing, material pricing, and project estimation.
- Experience coordinating field technicians and service schedules.
- Comfortable working with cloud-based business systems and multiple technology platforms.
