Responsibilities
- Direct and implement research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives
- Establish and enforce guidelines for approval and conduct of research projects, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
- Supervise and mentor research staff, set departmental and individual goals, and provide routine performance evaluations
- Seek external funding opportunities and contribute as principal investigator or co-investigator on funded research studies
- Ensure accurate input of treatments, payments, and patient data into hospital databases and maintain up-to-date patient charts
- Define and manage standards of medical care and service provision for the relevant clinical unit
- Promote dissemination of research findings to staff, departments, collaborators, and the broader public
- Translate research findings into clinical practice improvements within the hospital
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine or any other related field
- Master’s Degree or PHD in the field of Clinical Research or an Associated Degree in a related field from a recognized university
- A minimum of six (6) years related work experience and research experience and demonstrated peer- review publication record
- Registered with Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board
- Posses a valid practicing License
