Location: Maiani Dispensary, Salama – Makueni County
Contract Duration: One (1) Year, renewable
Gross Salary: KES 43,500 per month
Reports to: Clinical Officer (under supervision of the Administrator)

Position Summary The Laboratory Technologist will provide accurate and timely diagnostic services to support patient diagnosis, treatment, and management. The role ensures proper laboratory operations, quality assurance, biosafety, and accountability in line with Ministry of Health regulations and The Salvation Army values.

  • Perform routine medical laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and coagulation.
  • Collect, prepare, process, and analyze patient specimens accurately.
  • Operate, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure the laboratory is well stocked with reagents and supplies.
  • Record, validate, and report test results accurately and timely.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, tagging, and documentation.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly stock checks.
  • Implement laboratory equipment maintenance programs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety, biosafety, and IPC standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and laboratory information.
  • Uphold professional standards, Ministry of Health policies, and TSA values.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the In-charge or Territorial Health Coordinator.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences/Technology
  • Completion of approved internship/clinical attachment
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
  • Valid practising licence from KMLTTB
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and biosafety standards
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer literacy and record-keeping skills
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
