Our client, a private tech company based in Nairobi and other international locations seeks to hire a junior accountant to support accounting processes for the Nairobi office. This role entails managing core accounting tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset management, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Junior Accountant will ensure financial accuracy, compliance with policies and regulations, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the full spectrum of accounting functions, including general ledger management and reconciliations.
- Accurately record and maintain financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
- Manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation schedules and reconciliations.
- Process accounts receivable and accounts payable in a timely and accurate manner.
- Engage with customers regarding overdue accounts and support collection efforts.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory tax regulations.
- Provide ad-hoc financial and analytical support to the finance team as required.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial issues and improve reporting processes
- Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time in line with the role and business needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA 2
- Minimum of 1–5 years’ practical experience in accounting or finance.
- Exposure to international accounting practices or multinational environments is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Sage or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, self-driven attitude.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
