Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

• Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Construction Plant Engineering, Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Building Construction, Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

OR

• Technician Il and Ill (KNEC) Certificate in the relevant field;

• Registration by the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) as a Candidate Engineering Technician;

OR

• Registration by any other relevant professional body;

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities entail: –

• preparing schemes of work;
• instructing trainees in the area of specialization;
• preparing course materials in area of specialization;
• conducting practical work for trainees in area of specialization;
• manning a training workshop or laboratory; and
• preparing machines, tools, equipment, training aids for use in the instructional field
