Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of Tandeli Bakery & Coffee Shop. This role ensures operational excellence, profitability, food safety compliance, product quality, and exceptional customer service while leading the team and supporting the continued growth of the business. The General Manager serves as the primary link between operations, production, finance, suppliers, technology partners, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Customer Experience
- Oversee daily bakery and café operations, ensuring efficient coordination between front-of-house, production, and administration teams.
- Manage online ordering, deliveries, customer communications, and issue resolution.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvements where required.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop the bakery, café, and administrative teams.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and employment procedures.
Inventory, Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Manage stock levels, purchasing, and supplier relationships.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, wastage, and cost control measures.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve value, quality, and reliability.
Financial & Business Management
- Review sales performance and prepare regular operational reports.
- Monitor product profitability, costing, pricing, and key business metrics.
- Support budgeting, financial planning, audits, and record-keeping requirements.
Product Quality & Compliance
- Ensure consistent product quality, presentation, and freshness.
- Maintain food safety standards and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Oversee licences, permits, inspections, and health and safety compliance.
- Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions where needed.
Systems, Facilities & Administration
- Act as the primary liaison with software, payment, and technology providers.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, facility upkeep, and operational systems.
- Ensure accurate reporting, data integrity, and effective use of business systems.
Brand & Growth Support
- Uphold company values and brand standards across all customer touchpoints.
- Support marketing initiatives, promotions, and product launches.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer experience.
Key Requirements
- At least 3-5 years management experience in hospitality, food service, bakery, café, restaurant, or retail operations.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Financial acumen with experience managing costs, budgets, and reporting.
- Knowledge of food safety, compliance, and operational best practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with POS, inventory, and business management systems.
