Gemstone Cutter/Facetor Job PSCK
Technician Jobs, Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK) Jobs. Gemstone Cutter/Facetor inspects raw gemstones, operates cutting/polishing equipment, and shapes rough stones into finished gems, requires a Gemology or Lapidary Certificate/Diploma.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- a Diploma in Gemstone Cutting, Lapidary, Gemology, Mineral Processing or Jewellery Technology from a recognized institution;
- knowledge of gemstone identification, grading, and valuation techniques;
- ability to operate and maintain lapidary equipment; and
- Good hand–eye coordination, attention to detail, and manual dexterity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will include: –
- examining rough gemstones and determine the best cutting plan;
- marking, sawing, splitting, and pre-forming gemstones for faceting;
- cutting and facet gemstones to specified angles and proportions;
- polishing gemstones to achieve maximum brilliance and quality;
