Our client is a fast-growing ESG, sustainability, and impact consulting and training firm committed to driving sustainable development, climate action, and impact-driven growth across Africa. They partner with corporates, development agencies, foundations, impact investors, and public sector institutions to deliver high-impact consulting, advisory, capacity-building, and training solutions. They are seeking a commercially driven and highly connected Fundraising, Business Development & Partnerships Officer to lead fundraising efforts, drive revenue growth, secure strategic partnerships, and expand the organization’s presence across the sustainability, climate, development, and impact investment ecosystems.

Fundraising & Resource Mobilization

  • Identify, pursue, and secure funding opportunities from foundations, bilateral and multilateral donors, DFIs, impact investors, corporate foundations, and development partners.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Lead grant sourcing, proposal development, donor applications, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, funders, investors, and strategic partners.
  • Monitor donor trends, funding priorities, and emerging opportunities within the sustainability, climate, and impact investing sectors.
  • Support donor stewardship, reporting, and compliance requirements.

Business Development & Revenue Generation

  • Own the full business development cycle from prospecting and lead generation through proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Drive revenue growth by securing consulting, advisory, training, and capacity-building assignments.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline across corporate, donor, investor, and development sector clients.
  • Identify and pursue RFPs, tenders, grants, partnership opportunities, and strategic collaborations.
  • Develop commercial strategies that convert market opportunities into sustainable revenue streams.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and partnership agreements to maximize organizational value.

Strategic Partnerships & Market Expansion

  • Build and manage strategic relationships with impact investors, DFIs, development agencies, NGOs, foundations, academic institutions, and corporate partners.
  • Establish partnerships that enhance organizational visibility, funding opportunities, and market access.
  • Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, investor meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into new markets, sectors, and geographies.
  • Facilitate partnership discussions, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and collaboration agreements.

Proposal Development & Deal Execution

  • Lead the preparation of high-quality proposals, concept notes, pitch decks, capability statements, and tender submissions.
  • Develop compelling business cases and funding proposals tailored to donor and investor requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely and competitive submissions.
  • Track proposal performance and continuously improve win rates and conversion outcomes.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities and sector trends.
  • Support the development of innovative products, services, and market positioning strategies.
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives that strengthen the organization’s credibility and visibility.
  • Maintain awareness of developments within ESG, sustainability, climate finance, impact investing, and international development sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Development Studies, Finance, Economics, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business, Sustainability, Development, Finance, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in fundraising, business development, partnerships, donor relations, or revenue generation.
  • Demonstrated experience in impact investing, including engagement with impact investors, DFIs, blended finance initiatives, or investment-focused development programs.
  • Proven track record of securing grants, donor funding, strategic partnerships, and commercial contracts.
  • Experience developing successful proposals for foundations, donor agencies, multilateral organizations, and corporate clients.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability, climate, ESG, development finance, and impact investment ecosystems.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships at senior leadership and decision-making levels.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving revenue and fundraising targets.
