Role Description

• This is a full-time opportunity for the on-site position of Estate Field Assistant, located in Kericho County, Kenya. The Estate Field Assistant role entails the following:
• Responsible for the allocation of duties to all estate employees in consultation with the Estate Assistant Manager.
• Ensuring that proper work allocation & tasking is done & quality of work is adhered to by all employees on a daily basis.
• Ensuring proper establishment and maintenance of good plucking standards by plucking at correct plucking intervals and heights.
• Ensuring successful implementation of tea mechanization in line with company strategy while ensuring that tea bush productivity is increased.
• Carrying out best agronomic practices in soil conservation, crop protection, nutrition and new planning in the estate.
• Maintaining optimum plant population by ensuring successful infilling operation is done for tea and fuelwood areas.
• Planning and co-ordinating green leaf transport from the field to the factory while ensuring proper post-harvest handling and a quick turnaround time.
• Managing tea and tree nursery while ensuring there are sufficient stocks for own plantations and for external sales.
• Performing a variety of administration duties in consultation with the Estate Assistant Manager.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture or any other related discipline.
• Should have an understanding on tea agronomic best practices.
• Should have a minimum of 5 years working experience.
• Must have management and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team.
