The role

You will own the firmware and embedded software layer at the heart of MocX’s energy asset network, from the Battery Management System and CAN bus communication stack to field telemetry and diagnostics. This is a high-ownership role: you will work directly with the CEO and field teams, shipping software that runs on hundreds of deployed assets across live swap stations.

What you will work on

• Battery system firmware — Develop and maintain BMS communication interfaces, implement State of Health tracking, and manage capacity thresholds across a growing fleet of LFP battery packs.
• CAN bus & vehicle integration — Design and implement CAN bus authentication between the battery pack and motor controller. Build offline-capable immobilization logic and vehicle authorization flows that function reliably in low-connectivity field environments.
• Field intelligence & diagnostics — Build telemetry pipelines for live pack-level diagnostics, fault history tracking, and QC protocols for new battery deployment. Collaborate with the Field Intelligence team to surface actionable data across the fleet.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• 4+ years of embedded systems experience in C/C++ with real-world firmware deployments
• Strong working knowledge of CAN bus protocol — message framing, arbitration, and communication stack design
• Hands-on experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS), preferably LFP chemistry
• Comfort working in field-constrained environments: intermittent connectivity, low-power systems, and hardware debugging in the field

Nice to have:

• Prior work on EV drivetrains, electric two- or three-wheelers, or battery swap platforms
• Python scripting for telemetry processing or BMS data pipelines
• Experience in Kenya, Nigeria, or similar sub-Saharan operational contexts
