Electrician Job Kingrich Farm Kajiado, Kenya
Job Purpose
To ensure the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of all electrical systems and equipment across the farm including breeding, ventilation, lighting, and temperature-control systems critical to layer production — through proactive inspection, maintenance, and prompt fault resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspection, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical facilities and circuit systems on the farm.
- Install, commission, and maintain breeding equipment, ventilation systems, lighting, temperature control units, and other supporting electrical equipment.
- Carry out power safety inspections across the farm/factory area and proactively identify and eliminate potential electrical hazards.
- Diagnose electrical faults promptly to minimize downtime affecting flock welfare and production continuity.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, fault reports, and spare-parts usage records.
- Ensure all electrical work is carried out in compliance with the farm’s Permit to Work system and relevant safety standards.
- Support new installations and electrical upgrades as the farm expands.
- Complete other related electrical maintenance work as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Kenyan National.
- Valid Kenyan Electrician License/Certification (e.g., Electrical Installation Grade II/I or equivalent).
- Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is an added advantage.
- Previous relevant electrical maintenance experience preferred, ideally in an industrial, agricultural, or livestock production setting.

- Technical proficiency: Sound working knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, and control systems used in poultry production equipment.
- Safety awareness: Solid understanding of electrical safety specifications and hazard identification; consistent use of PPE and Permit to Work procedures.
- Problem-solving: Able to diagnose faults quickly and logically under time pressure to minimise production disruption.
- Reliability & flexibility: Available to respond to urgent electrical faults and work overtime when required, given the farm’s continuous care obligations.
- Teamwork: Cooperates with maintenance, production, and biosecurity teams to schedule work with minimal disruption to the flock.
Working Conditions
- Based on-farm in Kajiado; work is carried out both indoors (layer houses, stores) and outdoors across the 100-hectare site.
- Requires use of PPE at all times within production areas and adherence to farm biosecurity protocols.
- May require work at height, in confined spaces, or with electrical hazards — always under an authorized Permit to Work.
- Availabilty for emergency call-out and overtime during peak periods or equipment failure.
