County Attorney Job Embu County Government
Looking for a legal job in Kenya? Embu County Government is hiring a County Attorney to provide legal advisory services, handle litigation matters, and ensure compliance with county laws and regulations. The role is based in Embu County and membership of the Law Society of Kenya is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Functions of the County Attorney
The County Attorney—
- is the principal legal adviser to the county government;
- shall attend the meetings of the county executive committee as a member of the executive committee;
- shall, on the instructions of the county government, represent the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings;
- shall advise departments in the county executive on legislative and other legal matters;
- shall negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the county executive and its agencies;
- shall be responsible for the revision of county laws;
- may liaise with the Office of the Attorney-General when need arises; and
- shall perform any other function as may be necessary for the effective discharge of the duties and the exercise of the powers of the County Attorney.
Qualifications
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Valid Practicing License
- Five (5) years’ post-admission experience as an Advocate of the High Court.
- Member of the Law Society of Kenya and in good standing.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of the County objectives;
- Have good communication organizational and inter-personal skills;
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles espoused in Article 10 and232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
