About the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya (OAK)

Kenya’s Global Business Services (GBS) sector, a global industry encompassing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), is at a rapid inflection point. The Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya (OAK) is the apex industry association for these export-oriented operators.

Our mandate is to represent and strengthen the GBS industry, support demand generation and investor facilitation, coordinate industry engagement with government, and position Kenya as a globally competitive GBS destination. We are in our foundational phase, supported by catalytic funding and membership to strengthen sector coordination, and accelerate investment into Kenya’s GBS sector.

The Role

This is a founding leadership role for a dynamic individual who thrives in building institutions and working with diverse stakeholders to unlock sector growth. The CEO will define the trajectory of one of Africa’s most promising export sectors, contributing to the creation of tens of thousands of high-quality digital jobs.

Reporting to the OAK Board, the CEO will be responsible for establishing the foundations of the association required to support sector growth. During the initial 18-month phase, the core mandate will focus on:

• Operationalizing Governance & Business Model: Establishing a clear, professional governance framework and operating model. This includes strengthening member engagement, expanding the association, and building a sustainable financial model by actively securing new funding to transition toward a diversified revenue base.
• Driving Demand Generation & Investor Facilitation: Leading the development of clear international narratives and value proposition materials. The CEO will work alongside InvestKenya to strengthen coordinated demand generation efforts and provide prospective investors with credible industry expertise to support investment decisions.
• Shaping a Focused Policy & Government Engagement Agenda: Building consensus among members on priority policy reforms and engaging relevant government counterparts at technical and senior levels to advance competitiveness priorities.
• Developing Institutional Leadership & Operations: Building and leading a small but effective team capable of delivering on long-term priorities, establishing strong operational systems, and actively sharing market intelligence across the broader GBS ecosystem.

What We Are Looking For

• The ideal candidate is a leader who is comfortable operating as a peer to senior industry executives and representing the sector in high-level engagements.

Key Requirements:

• Industry Expertise: Significant leadership experience within the sector with a deep understanding of international competitiveness, location strategy, and global demand dynamics.
• Executive Presence: Commercial credibility with a proven ability to engage as a peer with multinational CEOs, senior government ministers, and international investors.
• Public-Private Navigation: Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of industry and government to unlock sector growth or shape policy.
• Organizational Growth: Proven track record of leading market expansion, institution building, or sector development initiatives.
• Fundraising & Donor Relations: Proven experience in identifying, pitching, and securing multi-year funding from international development partners or philanthropic foundations, coupled with a strong understanding of donor compliance and reporting.
• Location: Must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Nairobi, Kenya. Experience operating in Kenya or another mature GBS market is strongly preferred.

Compensation

• The annual compensation for this role is globally competitive and commensurate with experience.
