Position Overview:

The Auto Electrician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in company vehicles, plant machinery, and related equipment. The role requires hands-on experience in automotive and industrial electrical systems within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will ensure reliable operation of electrical components, minimize downtime, and support efficient production processes through proactive maintenance and timely fault resolution.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional qualification (mandatory).
• Minimum 2–3 years hands-on experience as an Auto Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
• Experience in diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in vehicles, generators, and industrial machinery.
• Proven ability to interpret electrical schematics and perform systematic troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with battery systems, alternators, starters, lighting, and electronic control units.
• Working knowledge of multimeter, oscilloscope, and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and Kenyan electrical regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with high attention to detail and safety.
• Ability to work under pressure, respond to breakdowns promptly, and meet tight maintenance deadlines in a manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical maintenance of vehicles and plant equipment, including:

• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in company vehicles, forklifts, and production machinery.
• Performing routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
• Installing, testing, and commissioning new electrical components and systems as required.
• Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintaining accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.
• Ensuring full compliance with electrical safety standards, company procedures, and statutory requirements.
• Identifying potential electrical hazards and implementing corrective measures to safeguard company assets and personnel.
• Providing technical advice and support to operations teams on electrical matters.
• Assisting in training junior technicians and promoting high standards of workmanship and safety.
• Supporting continuous improvement in maintenance processes and electrical systems within the manufacturing environment.
