Our client is a reputable international construction company with extensive expertise in general contracting and steel structure projects. As part of its growing operations in Kenya, the company is seeking to recruit a highly organized and proactive Assistant Project Manager to provide administrative, operational, and project coordination support. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and experience working within the construction or real estate sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the project team with day-to-day administrative and project coordination activities.
- Organize, maintain, and archive project documents and records.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and track action items to ensure timely follow-up.
- Manage professional correspondence, including drafting and responding to business emails and letters.
- Liaise with project stakeholders and ensure timely communication of project updates and progress.
- Assist in preparing project presentations, progress reports, and management reports.
- Coordinate project meetings and provide administrative support for internal and external engagements.
- Arrange travel logistics, accommodation, and transportation for project personnel.
- Support procurement coordination and follow up on project-related material requirements.
- Facilitate communication between project sites and office teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in monitoring project activities and escalating issues requiring management attention.
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure project information is accurately recorded and shared with relevant parties.
- Support the implementation of company procedures and project management standards.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Kenya Office Head.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Chinese-funded construction company, real estate development company, or a similar environment.
- Ability to communicate in Chinese is highly desirable. Candidates with basic daily oral Chinese communication skills will be given priority; however, written Chinese proficiency is not required.
- Familiarity with construction industry processes and project execution methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, and business correspondence.
- Possession of a valid Kenyan driving license with the ability to drive independently.
- Experience working in multicultural and international business environments is an added advantage.
- Ability to communicate in Chinese is highly desirable.
