Job Description

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

  • Taking oral dictation;
  • Word and data processing;
  • Managing e-office;
  • Handling telephone calls and appointments;
  • Ensuring security of office records, documents and equipment;
  • Maintaining an up to date filing system in the office;
  • Operating office equipment;
  • Managing office protocol;
  • Managing office petty cash; and
  • Handling telephone calls and appointments.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

Diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

OR

  • Business Education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) Stages I, II and III from the Kenya National Examinations Council in the following subjects:
  • Typewriting III (Minimum 50 w.p.m.)/Computerized Document Processing III;
  • Shorthand II (80 w.p.m);
  • Business English II/ Communications 1;
  • Secretarial Duties II;
  • Commerce II;
  • Office Management III/Office Administration and Management III;
  • Certificate in computer application skills

Terms of Service

The successful candidate will be on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service. – Kshs. 48,935/= per Minimum basic salary for this position will range from Kshs. 36,444 month exclusive of allowances.
