Why Your Applications Are Going Nowhere And What You Can Do About It Right Now

Most professionals do not realize their CV is the problem until they have wasted months finding out.

They blame the market. They apply to more roles. They tweak the formatting, change the font, and send it out again, hoping something shifts. Nothing shifts because the problem was never the formatting.

It was what the CV was actually saying about them.

Here is what to fix.

Most CVs open with a summary so generic it could belong to anyone. Results-driven professional with a passion for excellence. Dynamic team player committed to delivering value. These phrases have appeared on so many CVs they have stopped meaning anything.

Open instead with the most specific and impressive thing you have done. A number. An outcome. Something that makes a recruiter stop and think, tell me more. Everything else on the page gets read differently once you have earned that attention.

Grew the team. Improved sales. Managed a large portfolio. These phrases are on thousands of CVs, and they all say the same thing, which is nothing.

Grew the team from four to eleven in eighteen months. Improved sales by 34% in the first year. Managed a portfolio of forty-three clients across three regions. Now there is something to respond to. Numbers do not make you sound boastful. They make you sound real.

Using AI to structure your CV is fine. Using it to decide what matters about your career is not.

AI writes the safest version of you. It takes what you give it, usually a job description, and returns something professional and forgettable. The crisis you managed, the client you brought back, the process you rebuilt from scratch- none of that makes it in unless you know exactly how to ask for it.

Go through your AI-written CV line by line and ask whether your most significant moments are actually on the page. If they are hiding behind phrases like supported initiatives and contributed to growth, rewrite them with the specific truth of what you did.

The most damaging habit on a CV is modesty. Writing assisted when the truth is led. Writing contributed when the truth is built. Writing supported when the truth is managed alone.

You are not overstating by telling the truth. You are just telling it. A recruiter cannot give you credit for things you have edited out of the story.

These are not complicated changes. But they require you to look at your CV the way a stranger would, which is harder than it sounds when you have been staring at the same document for months.

If you would rather have someone do that with you, that is exactly what we are here for.

At Corporate Staffing Services, we rewrite CVs from a real conversation about what you have actually done, not from a job description and a prompt.
