I am a business operations lead professional with over ten years in the automotive industry, spanning from being a certified motor valuer and assessor to being an experienced service advisor and workshop controller.

I have a track record of exemplary work ethics and direct business growth by improving revenue through venturing into untapped markets and going for big accounts, fostering and maintaining mutually beneficial relations with clients.

How long had you been looking for a job, and what has your job search experience been like?

I had been looking for a job for over a year, and the jobs that I was getting were not aligned with my goals and qualifications. My job search had been so frustrating, and I had used other recruitment platforms before landing on one at Corporate Staffing.

Where did you hear about corporate staffing and job opportunities?

I did a Google search for ‘service advisor jobs in Nairobi’ and among the results was one on the Corporate Staffing website. With my experience, I submitted my application and weeks later I was contacted for what came to be a series of interviews before getting the job in the Service/Spares/Sales Outlet (ASO).

What do you think employers look for or check when selecting suitable candidates?

Beyond the qualifications and certifications, I believe that employers look for a confident and self-driven individual who’s not afraid to take on more roles and tasks in line with the organization’s mission and vision.

What do you think is the secret to getting a job in this competitive market?

Resilience, good communication skills, integrity, and willingness to learn and take on more tasks. It pays to get more general knowledge about the current market trends in whatever industry one is looking to make a career in as well as being a self-driven individual. Being a team player is a universal requirement.

If you were to speak to any professional out there, what is one thing you would tell them to do to succeed in 2024?

It is no secret that business owners have changed how they run their businesses post covid due to the dynamic changes that took place.

It is, therefore, important to ensure that you align your goals with the current market trends.

Apart from that, embrace the change in technology and learn how to analyze data to enable you make strategic decisions.
