5 Resume Tips To Land You More Interviews & Job Offers

The biggest piece of advice that Grace, the recruitment manager at CSS usually give to job seekers is to understand the tips for writing a professional CV.

It’s great and generally true but there are some cases when job seekers do everything right, they ensure they have a perfect resume but that still don’t work.

The truth is that curriculum vitae may not get you a job but it gets you an interview. A good resume creates a great impression and increases your chances of getting interviews.

When I was looking for a job, I had impressive work history and a long list of great accomplishments, but I didn’t seem to capture the attention of employers. The problem was with my resume.

In this article, I will highlight the tips that will help improve your resume and increase your chances of being called for an interview.

1. Understand The Role Of A CV In The Hiring Process

Some of the complaints that job hunters address when I interact with them include, “My CV isn’t getting me the right jobs, I don’t get interview invites and I don’t know the mistakes that could be preventing me from being shortlisted.

Understanding how to write a job-winning CV and its role in the hiring process is the first step to creating a document that markets your unique selling points to employers.

2. Write For All Readers, Not Just Bots

Executive CV writing is a balancing act because you write for different audiences for example the ATS and the employers.

When searching for a job, you send your application and the system will check the CV formatting and the keywords used.

The employers on the other hand will look at the requirements regarding the job description before deciding if you are fit for the role.

3. Narrow Down Your Job Target

An effective job-winning resume is targeted for a specific job. If you’re applying for a digital marketing role, it means your CV should reflect the relevant experiences that are related to digital marketing.

Writing a tailored resume shows that you understand the needs of the employer, and the goal of the role, and you can meet those goals based on the skills that you possess and your previous experience and which increases your chances of getting an interview.

4. Analyze Job

“When I am creating a job advert, there is a need and I highlight what I am looking for in an ideal candidate. I expect the applicants to explain what makes them fit for the role through their career history.” Grace said.

Analyzing a job can be challenging but it is important to read through the job description to understand what the employer is looking for, and the relevant skills, qualifications, and experience for you to present yourself as the best fit.

5. Make Regular Resume Update Be An Habit

How many times do you normally update your CV? If I was to guess then it is probably once a year when you come across a job opportunity because this is when most clients are seeking our resume writing services.

When you acquire a skill through short courses, complete a project, start a new job, or get a promotion, be sure to update it so that you be prepared for any job that may present itself to avoid scrambling at the last minute.

Conclusion

The road to getting an interview is through creating a perfect CV that creates a great impression and highlights what makes you the ideal candidate.

It is therefore important for you to write an attractive document by investing in the best service for you to get professional resume writing assistance.

  2. Dear Team,

I have been applying for several jobs in NGOs, specifically in the area of Business Development which is what I have done over the last 6 years.
I have not been lucky enough to be called for an interview. I have been in the insurance industry for my entire career spanning 23 years working in various departments.
I feel that I have reached a plateau in my insurance career & that I need to challenge myself to do something new & interesting. I have always desired to work in the NGO world & therefore, I would gladly embrace at whatever level I may be absorbed because I am willing to learn & grow.
