The Best Question To Ask At The End Of An Interview

We have all reached this point. After nearly an hour of pouring your heart out trying to impress the interviewer with what makes you the best fit for the position, the hiring manager asks you if you have any questions for them.

In any interview, the interviewer must ask you this question towards the end. It is meant to gauge whether you were listening to them and whether you have any interest in the company.

Ms. Cynthia Wangeci, a HR professional at Corporate Staffing Services points out that the worst mistake you can make is not having any questions for the interviewer.

The next game killer is asking the wrong question. Read here on 5 Questions You Should Never Ask The Interviewer No Matter How Tempting.

According to Ms. Wangeci, play your cards right and you may end up getting your foot in the door.

The Best Question You Should Ask The Interviewer

I know you have read on questions you should be asking the interviewer, but I am going to cover on that one question that might mean the difference between you being employed and going back home empty handed.

I sat down with Ms. Wangeci to give me highlights of the best questions candidates have ever asked her in an interview.

“I have interviewed all sorts of candidates – from those who are afraid to ask you any question to the ones who ask you all the wrong question,” says Ms. Wangeci.

She confesses that the best question that stood out was,

“I was wondering what your best moment so far at this company was?”

According to Ms. Wangeci, as innocent as it may seem is the one question you should never leave the interview room without asking because:

1. It gives you an insight into the company

This question is likely to give you more insights into the company as well as gauge whether you will fit into the organization.

You must agree with me that there is no better way to end an interview than you getting a sneak-peak into the interviewer’s values and best moments at the company. It also gives you an overview of your prospective employer.2. Demonstrates your interest

2. Demonstrates your interest

The interview is your one chance to impress the hiring manager. Letting them know that you have a particular interest in the job and company and what better way to do this than ask questions related to the company.

An interview is not supposed to be an affair where the interviewer asks questions and you give perfectly crafted answers. Let it be an avenue to get to know you could be the future employee and the company.

Interview preparation can be stressful especially if you have an upcoming big interview. You could try interview coaching to help you ace that interview.
