Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to support the efficient management of bancassurance, accounts, and microfinance transactions, ensuring policy issuance, reconciliations, claims processing, renewals, cancellations, and customer support are handled effectively. The Underwriter will work closely with both senior underwriters and underwriting assistants to maintain financial accuracy, compliance with internal policies, and timely processing of all tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Efficiently conduct risk assessment ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Prepare and provide quotations for clients, addressing inquiries and offering necessary clarifications.
- Assess risks coverage and verify documents for appropriate underwriting processes.
- Enhance customer engagement by proactively responding to their concerns.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate debiting of business transactions and issuance of policy covers maintaining thorough and up-to-date documentation.
- Conduct reconciliations and declarations for bancassurance, accounts, and microfinance clients, ensuring financial accuracy and reporting integrity.
- Vetting of business by conducting risk selection and approvals to ensure profitable risk portfolio
- Ensure clarity of policy terms, exclusions and conditions to avoid disputes
- Prepare and provide quotations for clients, addressing inquiries and offering necessary clarifications.
- Support the smooth renewal of policies by addressing issues and facilitating the continuation of coverage.
- Any other responsibilities assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance or related field from a recognised university.
- Must have a Diploma in Insurance
- Member of AIIK/CII
Related Job Experience/Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar position.
