About the Role

Portal Pharmacy is looking for a reliable, proactive, customer-focused, and sales-driven Pharmaceutical Technologist to join our growing team in Nairobi.

This role requires more than technical pharmaceutical knowledge — we are looking for someone who is confident in customer engagement, passionate about wellness and beauty, and able to drive sales while delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate should have strong retail pharmacy experience and be comfortable recommending skincare, cosmetics, wellness, and healthcare products to customers.

Experience in selling cosmetics, skincare, or beauty products is a strong advantage.

You will work closely with the Branch Manager to support the branch in achieving operational goals, customer service standards, and sales KPIs while ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately dispense prescription and OTC medications with attention to safety and detail
• Provide professional counseling on medication use, interactions, dosage, and side effects
• Deliver exceptional customer service both in-store and through digital communication platforms such as WhatsApp and social media
• Drive branch sales through confident product recommendations, upselling, and cross-selling
• Recommend suitable skincare, cosmetic, wellness, and healthcare products based on customer needs
• Build strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business
• Assist in inventory management, including stock ordering, expiry tracking, and stock rotation
• Ensure compliance with PPB regulations, ethical standards, and internal SOPs
• Efficiently manage POS and dispensing software systems
• Handle customer complaints and inquiries professionally and empathetically
• Support the branch in achieving sales targets, customer service KPIs, and operational goals
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming pharmacy environment
• Carry out additional operational and administrative tasks as assigned by the Branch Manager

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
• Valid registration and current license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy retail or community pharmacy
• Strong sales ability with a proven track record in customer engagement and retail performance
• Experience selling skincare, cosmetics, or beauty products is a strong advantage
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to confidently interact with customers both physically and digitally
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Tech-savvy with familiarity in pharmacy systems and digital communication tools
• A proactive, solution-oriented, and team-focused mindset
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
