Morticians Job (40K)
Our client, a funeral home based in Kabati, Murang’a County, is seeking skilled and compassionate Morticians to provide professional care and preparation of deceased persons while maintaining dignity, respect, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Body Preparation & Care
- Perform preparation, preservation, and presentation of deceased persons in accordance with established mortuary procedures.
- Conduct embalming procedures where qualified and required.
- Ensure the deceased are handled with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times.
Mortuary Operations
- Receive, identify, and document deceased persons accurately upon admission.
- Maintain proper storage, movement, and release procedures within the mortuary.
- Ensure mortuary facilities, equipment, and work areas are clean and properly maintained.
Infection Prevention & Safety
- Follow strict infection prevention and control procedures when handling deceased persons.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain workplace safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Documentation & Record Management
- Maintain accurate mortuary records, including admissions, releases, and preparation details.
- Verify identification documentation and ensure proper authorization before release of remains.
- Prepare reports and update records as required by management.
Family Support & Professional Conduct
- Interact with bereaved families with compassion, sensitivity, and professionalism.
- Provide guidance and support regarding preparation procedures when required.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for families, deceased persons, and sensitive information.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Ensure mortuary equipment and tools are properly handled and maintained.
- Report equipment faults, shortages, or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional working environment.
Compliance & Ethical Standards
- Uphold high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for human dignity.
- Follow funeral home policies, legal requirements, and professional guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all cases and client information.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in Mortuary Science, Funeral Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a mortuary or funeral services environment.
- Professional training in embalming will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of mortuary procedures and infection prevention practices.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Compassion, emotional maturity, and ability to work effectively in sensitive situations.
