About the Role
The Sands Kenya is recruiting a Front Office – Nomad to lead all reception, reservations, and guest relations functions. This is a full-time position based in Nairobi where you will serve as the primary point of contact for guests throughout their stay. The role combines operational oversight with hands-on guest engagement, requiring someone who can manage both systems and people while maintaining high service standards.
As Front Office – Nomad at The Sands Kenya, you will own the complete guest journey from initial booking through checkout. You will coordinate across multiple departments, handle service recovery, and ensure that both arriving and in-house guests experience consistent, professional hospitality. This is a position for someone who thrives in a guest-facing environment and can stay organised under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all reception, reservations, and guest relations as an integrated function, acting as the first point of contact for arriving and in-house guests
- Oversee smooth check-in and check-out processes, ensuring high service standards are maintained at every touchpoint
- Take ownership of guest concerns and complaints, working through to resolution and following up to ensure satisfaction
- Manage guest feedback and coordinate service recovery when issues arise
- Supervise and train the front office team, conducting daily briefings and shift handovers to align the team on priorities and service standards
- Prepare staff schedules and allocate daily tasks to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency
- Operate Opera PMS and hotel management systems for reservations, billing, and reporting; maintain accuracy in all booking and billing records
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Operations, Food & Beverage, and Management to communicate guest arrivals, special requests, and movements daily
- Ensure cash handling is accurate and secure, and that all financial processes meet hotel standards
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Opera PMS and hotel management systems; hands-on experience in a front office role is essential
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and staff at all levels
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and guest requests simultaneously
- Demonstrated team leadership experience; ability to supervise staff, provide clear direction, and maintain a positive work environment
- Calm and composed under pressure; capable of handling guest issues and operational challenges without losing focus or professionalism
- Warm, approachable demeanor with a genuine commitment to delivering personalised guest experiences
- Ability to coordinate across departments and communicate clearly with colleagues in different functions
