Requirements:
- Be a Citizen of Kenya
- Minimum of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) or its equivalent
- Secondary education (KCSE) is an added advantage
- At least 1–2 years of experience in cleaning, preferably in a health facility or similar environment
- Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision
- Good personal hygiene and neat appearance
- Physical fitness to perform cleaning duties
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Punctuality, honesty, and reliability
Responsibilities:
- Clean and disinfect floors, walls, doors, windows, ceilings, and other surfaces
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms and public areas
- Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal according to hospital infection control guidelines
- Collect, sort, and safely dispose of medical and non-medical waste
- Handle sharps and infectious waste carefully in line with safety procedures
- Ensure waste bins are clean and emptied regularly
- Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and bathrooms
- Report any plumbing or maintenance issues promptly
- Follow hospital infection prevention and control protocols strictly
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces to minimize the risk of infection
- Collect, sort, and transport soiled linen to the laundry area
- Assist in arranging furniture and equipment in patient care areas
- Replenish cleaning materials and report shortages
- Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies such as spills or contamination
