Cash Handling & Payment Processing

  • Receive and process customer payments accurately through cash, mobile money, and other approved payment methods.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently and accurately.
  • Issue receipts and maintain proper records of all transactions.
  • Verify cash balances at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of daily sales and cash collections.

Customer Service

  • Greet customers professionally and assist them during the checkout process.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, prices, and promotions.
  • Resolve minor customer complaints or refer complex issues to management.
  • Maintain a friendly, courteous, and professional attitude at all times.

Store Operations Support

  • Assist in monitoring stock levels at the checkout area.
  • Support shelf arrangement, product display, and general store cleanliness when required.
  • Report stock shortages, pricing discrepancies, or damaged products to supervisors.
  • Ensure shopping baskets, counters, and checkout areas remain clean and organized.

Compliance & Accuracy

  • Follow company cash handling procedures and internal controls.
  • Safeguard company funds and prevent transaction errors.
  • Ensure all transactions are processed accurately and transparently.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and customer service standards.

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare end-of-shift cash reconciliation reports.
  • Maintain accurate transaction and payment records.
  • Report system issues, cash variances, or operational concerns promptly.
  • KCSE/Diploma in Business, Accounting, Sales, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working as a Cashier in a minimart, supermarket, or retail store is mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge and experience using POS systems.
  • Good understanding of cash handling procedures and transaction reconciliation.
  • Basic numerical and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
