Objective of the Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to design, develop, and deploy a new and improved FilmAid Kenya website that is modern, user-friendly, secure, and aligned with our brand identity and strategic communication goals.

The selected consultant/firm will be responsible for the following:

Needs Assessment & Strategy

  • Conduct a brief analysis of the current website to identify gaps in design, functionality, performance, and content
  • Recommend a site architecture and UX strategy that improves navigation and user experience.

Design and Development

  • Design a modern, responsive website (mobile, tablet, and desktop compatible).
  • Integrate multimedia (video, podcast, image galleries).
  • Create easy-to-update sections for blogs, news, campaigns, and events.
  • Include donation and contact forms, newsletter integration, and links to social media.
  • Ensure WCAG accessibility compliance and SEO optimization.

Key Features

  • Homepage with clear mission and dynamic highlights (e.g., ongoing projects, impact stories).
  • About Us, Programs, FAFF (FilmAid Film Festival), REF FM, and Training pages.
  • News & Blog section.
  • Secure contact and volunteer forms.
  • Media center/downloads.
  • Content Management System (CMS) for staff to update content easily.
  • Google Analytics and basic performance tracking tools.

Data Migration & Content Transfer

  • Migrate content from the current website to the new platform.
  • Ensure all files, links, and pages are optimized and functional post-transfer.

Training & Handover

  • Provide training for relevant staff on managing and updating the website.
  • Deliver documentation and admin credentials for future maintenance.
  • Deliverables
  • Website development strategy and timeline
  • Website wireframes and final approved design
  • Fully functional and tested website
  • Training session and user manual
  • Maintenance support for a specified period (minimum 3 months post-launch)

The consultant/firm should have:

  • Proven experience in web design and development (minimum 3 similar projects).
  • Expertise in responsive design, CMS (e.g., WordPress, Drupal), and UX.
  • Understanding of humanitarian or nonprofit communication needs (preferred).
  • Graphic design, SEO, and security best practices.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance and quality of previous work (30%)
  • Technical approach and understanding of the brief (30%)
  • Cost-effectiveness (20%)
  • Timeliness and deliverability (20%)

Interested firms/consultants should submit:

  • Technical proposal outlining approach and methodology
  • Portfolio of previous work and relevant experience
  • Proposed budget and timeline
  • CVs of key personnel
  • At least three references
