Trainers in Maritime Transport & Logistics Job MKU
Looking for a university job in Kenya? Mount Kenya University is hiring Trainers to deliver training sessions, support learner development and facilitate practical learning activities. The role is based in Malindi and prior teaching or training experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities;
- Teach courses in navigation, ship stability, meteorology, cargo handling, and maritime law.
- Deliver practical training in bridge simulation, chart work, and voyage planning.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW standards.
- Mentor and guide cadets in academic and professional development.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Support students in preparation for certification exams and onboard training.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the nautical science curriculum.
- Integrate emerging technologies and industry practices into training modules.
- Ensure training programs meet national and international maritime education standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
- Work closely with other trainers, academic staff, and industry partners.
- Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in, Maritime Transport and Logistics, or its equivalent in a relevant field.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Registered member of a relevant professional body in good standing will be an added advantage
