Job Summary

The Timber Salesperson is responsible for driving sales of timber and related wood products for AIMA Construction. This role involves developing new business, maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, understanding customer needs, and ensuring timely coordination with procurement and logistics. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of timber grades, species, and applications within the construction industry.

Responsibilities & Tasks

Sales & Business Development

  • Generate new sales leads and expand the customer base within construction, carpentry, and related industries.
  • Prepare and deliver sales quotations, proposals, and product presentations.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, new product opportunities, and competitor activities.
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets as set by management.

Client Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors, site engineers,    project managers, carpenters, and procurement teams.
  • Conduct regular site visits to understand material requirements and resolve product‐related issues.
  • Provide technical advice on timber types, grades, and best-use applications.

Product Knowledge & Advisory

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of timber varieties, moisture content, strength grading, and suitability for different construction applications.
  • Advise clients on product specifications, pricing, and availability.
  • Stay updated on international and local timber standards and regulations.

Order Processing & Coordination

  • Prepare sales orders and ensure accurate documentation in coordination with the procurement and warehouse teams.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Follow up on payments and credit limits in coordination with the finance department.

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain updated records of sales, customer inquiries, and activity logs.
  • Submit weekly and monthly sales reports to management.
  • Participate in sales meetings, forecasting, and budget planning.

Qualifications, Skills & Key Competencies

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in timber sales or building material sales.
  • Experience within a construction company or timber supplier is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of timber types (softwood, hardwood), grading standards, and construction uses.
  • Knowledge of timber preservation, sizing, and quality standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals and meet targets.
  • Customer-centric approach with strong relationship‐building capability.
  • Ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office, CRM systems, and basic reporting tools.

Working Conditions

  • Field-based role involving regular visits to construction sites, warehouses, and client offices.
  • May require working extended hours based on project deadlines or client needs.
