The Academy welcomes applications from enthusiastic, professional educators committed to student-centred, inquiry-based teaching and learning. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Teacher of Economics, Business and Humanities to join our Senior School faculty, teaching across the Group 3 (Individuals and Societies) and Group 4/Business subject areas of the IB Diploma Programme, and contributing to Humanities instruction in the Middle Years Programme as needed.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction across Economics, Business Management and Humanities disciplines (such as History, Geography, or Global Politics), design and assess learning aligned to IB standards, and serve as an internal examiner. The role exists to build subject competence, conceptual understanding and holistic growth across these interconnected fields, enabling students to become confident, responsible global citizens within a safe and supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Department and work closely with colleagues to deliver inspiring lessons that enable every student to reach their individual potential.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Curriculum and Pedagogy

  • Collaboratively plan units of study across Economics, Business and Humanities that maximise learning and align with IB Diploma and Middle Years Programme standards
  • Design clear, achievable lesson objectives and deliver well-organised lessons in line with unit plans
  • Deliver engaging lessons in the spirit of inquiry, using IT and other resources to enhance instruction
  • Differentiate learning so every student can grasp economic, business and humanities concepts
  • Foster conceptual understanding and connect learning to real-world economic, business and societal contexts
  • Create a safe, positive classroom environment and make full use of instructional time

Assessment and Reporting

  • Apply a thorough understanding of IB criterion-based assessment practices across all subjects taught
  • Use varied, well-documented formative and summative assessments to evidence student learning
  • Produce accurate, criteria-based results that reflect what students can do
  • Write clear, constructive report cards that identify pathways for improvement
  • Participate actively in Parent-Teacher Conferences, supporting parents in understanding their child’s progress

Professional Growth and School Support

  • Reflect on and continuously improve teaching practice, learning from evidence and colleagues
  • Take ownership of personal professional development and pursue growth opportunities
  • Serve as a Homeroom Tutor, offering academic and pastoral support to students
  • Mentor students in Service as Action (SA) / CAS projects, connecting learning to community engagement
  • Contribute actively to a co-curricular club and support school trips as required

The requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business, or a Humanities discipline, with a teaching qualification
  • IB Diploma Programme certification in Economics, Business Management, or a Humanities subject is highly desirable
  • Registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience across Economics, Business and/or Humanities subjects, preferably within an IB World School or equivalent international education system
  • Demonstrated experience designing, delivering and assessing curriculum using criterion-based methods (e.g. IB rubrics)
  • Experience integrating technology and differentiated instruction into the classroom
  • Ability to teach flexibly across multiple subject areas within Economics, Business and Humanities is an advantage
