Looking for an IT job in Kenya? DIBBKE is hiring a Solutions Architect to monitor IT systems and ensure infrastructure availability, resolve operational issues. The role is based in Nairobi and professional certifications are required.

Job Purpose

To provide architectural expertise and oversight to ensure that technology solutions across the bank are well-designed, secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs. The role is responsible for defining solution architectures, guiding technology choices, supporting project teams, and ensuring effective integration, performance, and compliance across applications, infrastructure, and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture and Design Governance

• Develop and maintain solution architecture standards, guidelines, and reference models to ensure consistency and quality across all IT initiatives.
• Review and validate solution designs from project teams to ensure alignment with business requirements, architectural principles, and future-state technology direction.
• Produce system design documents, integration diagrams, data flows, and technical specifications to support new and existing solutions.
• Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, resilience, security, and cost-effectiveness.

Technology Evaluation and Advisory

• Assess new technologies, tools, and platforms and provide expert recommendations that align with the bank’s business objectives and digital roadmap.
• Support IT management in setting technology direction, identifying opportunities for modernization, and improving technology lifecycle management.
• Provide architectural advisory support during procurement, RFP evaluations, and vendor solution assessments

Integration and Interoperability Oversight

• Define and maintain integration standards, API guidelines, and data exchange patterns to ensure seamless communication across systems.
• Oversee design and optimization of interfaces between core banking, digital channels, payment systems and third-party applications.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality across integrated platforms
• Participate in project planning, requirements analysis, and solution design sessions to ensure architecture considerations are incorporated early.

Documentation & Architecture Repository

• Maintain comprehensive architectural artefacts, including diagrams, standards, patterns, and inventories for applications, interfaces, and infrastructure.
• Establish and manage a central architecture repository to support audits, regulatory reviews, and governance processes

Continuous Improvement & Innovation Enablement

• Identify areas where technology redesign or architectural improvements can enhance efficiency, performance, and operational resilience.
• Support innovation initiatives by evaluating emerging technologies and mapping their potential to the bank’s ecosystem.
• Recommend modernization opportunities such as cloud adoption, platform upgrades, microservices, automation, or digital enhancements.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in architecture or relevant technologies such as TOGAF, SAFe, AWS/Azure Architect, ITIL, or equivalent.

Work Experience

• Progressive experience (6–10+ years) in solution architecture, systems design, application development, or infrastructure engineering within a banking or large enterprise environment.
• Strong background in designing and supporting enterprise systems, integrations, APIs, and middleware.
• Proven experience collaborating with application support, system administration, and project delivery teams.
• Hands-on exposure to core banking platforms, digital channels, payments systems, and related financial services technologies.
• Demonstrated experience conducting technical reviews, architectural assessments, and project risk evaluations.
