Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • served for cumulative service period of ten (10) years three (3) years of which must have been in the grade of Principal Lecturer, CSG 8 or in comparable and relevant position in the public service; 
  • a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: – Education, Physical      Education, Sports Science, Sports Management, Sports and Recreation Management, Sports and Exercise Science, Leisure and Recreational Exercise Management or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • a certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution for officers who do not hold a Bachelor of Education     degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Education;
  • a certificate in Outdoor Experiential Training lasting not less than 3 (three) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • a certificate in Para- Military Training lasting not less than three (3) months from recognized institution; and
  • demonstrated professional competences and administrative ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be deployed to Head a Training Section.

Duties and responsibilities will include: –

  • facilitating outdoor experiential education lessons;
  • overseeing the implementation of safety and risk management policies;
  • inspecting training schemes, logbooks and confidential reports;
  • coordinating research programs on experimental education and merging trends;
  • designing, reviewing and implementing training programs;
  • developing training materials;
  • providing consultancy in the respective field;
  • providing logistical support;
  • preparing course reports;
  • conducting training for senior management; and
  • staff training and development
