An officer at this level shall report to a Senior Officer.

  • Mainstream and implement the principles of the constitution on good governance in all forestry development programs.
  • Ensure implementation of the forest legislation to enhance the growth and development of the forest sector.
  • Supervise implementation of KFS strategic plan as an avenue for delivering the organization mandate.
  • Support the county governments in the implementation of devolved forestry functions.
  • Provide inputs to the development and review of policies, legislations, and regulations to address emerging issues, and enhance service delivery.
  • Provide inputs to domestication of relevant international agreements and conventions including climate change.
  • Participate in the implementation of the relevant international agreements and conventions, including climate change.
  • Supervise implementation of operational plans, guidelines, rules and procedures as provided under the law.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of forest plantation management plans in all forest stations.
  • Prescribe silvicultural operations in Counties to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of ecosystem forest management plans.
  • Supervise the implementation of conservation and rehabilitation activities in natural forests blocks.
  • Coordinate and participate in the provision of advisory service on management of forest resources on community and private lands.
  • Provide inputs to the development of concept notes and project proposals to support implementation of forest development programs and projects.
  • Coordinate and participate in the implementation of forestry projects.
  • Prepare and implement Annual Work Plans and Budgets for forestry programmes.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on implementation of activities in duty stations.
  • Ensure proper administration of chain of custody as it applies to export and imports of timber and other forest products.
  • Coordinate and supervise forest resource assessment for sales and management purposes.
  • Participate in the assessment for provision of way-leaves, and issuance of special use licenses.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry studies
  • Master’s Degree in Relevant field
  • Professional qualification and membership where applicable
  • Management course lasting not less four (4) weeks
  • At least six (6) years’ work experience, three (3) of which should be in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution
