Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Accountant to join their Kenya branch team. The successful candidate will play a key role in transitioning currently outsourced accounting operations (handled by KPMG) to in-house management. The Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and compliance, using our core systems including AS400, GS-net, and SAP.

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting entries (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger).
  • Handle bank reconciliations, expense, petty cash management, and cash flow monitoring.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the regional head office.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with company and statutory requirements
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, and regulatory bodies as required
  • Support the implementation and operation of internal controls
  • Coordinate tax filings (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.) in collaboration with external consultants when necessary
  • Operate and ensure accurate data input into AS400, GS-net, and SAP systems
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support general administrative duties and cross-functional collaboration within a small team of approximately five staff
  • Facilitate smooth knowledge transfer from KPMG to internal processes
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records for financial and audit purposes.
  • Maintain all financial records and backups in accordance with company retention polici.
  • Assist in procurement processes and vendor payments.
  • Monitor spending and ensure proper approval workflows are followed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA (K) or ACCA qualification required
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or logistics related company
  • Experience using SAP highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance
  • Previous experience with transitioning from outsourced to in-house finance operations is a plus
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and other financial software
  • Familiarity with IFRS or consolidation processes.
