Our client is a leading distributor of chemicals across emerging markets and actively trades several other commodities like steel, polymers, and many more. They are looking to hire a detail-oriented and execution-focused Sales Support Assistant to support day-to-day sales, sourcing, and supply chain coordination activities. This role is ideal for a professional with a foundational understanding of commodity markets, pricing, and logistics who is comfortable working with data, documentation, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Sourcing Support
- Assist in daily sales and sourcing activities, including supplier and customer coordination
- Support the commercial team in responding to customer inquiries and preparing quotations
- Help track product availability and align supply with customer demand
Costing & Pricing Support
- Assist in preparing costing calculations, including import/export and landed cost estimates
- Support pricing activities using basic cost structures and incoterms
- Maintain and update pricing data in coordination with the team
Market & Supply Chain Understanding
- Develop a basic understanding of commodity demand and supply dynamics
- Monitor market trends and share relevant insights with the team
- Support demand planning activities based on historical data and seasonality
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and manage sales documentation such as Proforma Invoices (PFIs), export documents, and sample requests
- Support compliance with regulatory requirements, including KEBS standards and certifications
- Assist in compiling documentation for applications, permits, and tenders
Coordination & Operations
- Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to track shipments and goods in transit
- Ensure timely communication of key updates to internal stakeholders
- Support general administrative and operational tasks within the commercial function
Requirements
- Degree in Business, finance, or Supply Chain Management
- Approximately 2–4 years of relevant experience in commercial operations, supply chain, or trading support
- Strong operational and execution-oriented mindset
- Comfortable working with numbers, costing structures, and documentation
- Basic understanding of supply chain processes and pricing concepts
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to support multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to commodity trading, import/export operations, or logistics is an advantage
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance processes (e.g., KEBS) is a plus
- Analytical mindset with willingness to learn and develop further within the role
