Renal Nurse Job St Francis Community Hospital Nairobi, Kenya
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients with kidney disease.
- Safely prepare, operate, and monitor haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, recognizing and responding promptly to complications or emergencies.
- Administer prescribed medications and intravenous therapies in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on kidney disease, dialysis treatment, medication adherence, nutrition, vascular access care, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain dialysis equipment and ensure infection prevention and control standards are consistently followed.
- Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid nursing registration and current practicing license.
- Higher Diploma or specialized training in Renal Nursing is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a renal or dialysis unit is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is an added advantage
