QA Officer – Chemicals & Detergents Job (80-100K)

Location: Nairobi,

Gross Salary: Ksh 80 – 100K,

Our client is a manufacturing company specializing in the production of detergents and pool chemicals. The company is committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and compliant products through strict adherence to quality control systems, industry standards, and continuous improvement practices.

The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The role involves conducting chemical and physical testing, monitoring production processes, maintaining compliance with KEBS, ISO standards, and safety requirements, and supporting continuous improvement of product quality and operational efficiency.

Quality Control & Product Testing

  • Inspect and test raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with set specifications.
  • Conduct chemical analysis including pH, chlorine levels, concentration, viscosity, and related parameters.
  • Approve or reject production batches based on established quality standards.
  • Monitor formulation accuracy for detergents and pool chemicals to ensure product consistency.

Process Monitoring

  • Ensure production processes comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct routine inspections of mixing, filling, and packaging operations.
  • Identify process deviations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality assurance records, including test results, batch records, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with KEBS standards, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and ISO quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Update and manage quality documentation, procedures, and control records.

Audits & Quality Systems

  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Track non-conformities and ensure execution of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of chemicals such as chlorine, acids, and surfactants.
  • Monitor proper labeling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.

Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure raw materials meet required quality standards.
  • Provide feedback to production and management on recurring quality issues.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Support training of staff on quality standards and operational procedures.
  • Analyze defect trends and recommend process and product improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in quality assurance or quality control within a manufacturing or chemical production environment is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of chemical testing procedures, laboratory analysis, and quality control systems.
  • Familiarity with KEBS standards, ISO 9001, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) is an added advantage.
  • Experience in handling industrial chemicals such as detergents, surfactants, acids, or chlorine-based products is preferred.
