Role Overview
Prestige Bluestar is seeking a highly professional, honest, and reliable Project Accountant / Cost Controller to manage financial flows across multiple luxury interior and construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise (CPA qualification) and a solid background in construction or project-based industries. This role ensures strict financial discipline, accurate reporting, and proper use of funds to safeguard profitability and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Management
- Track all project-specific costs (materials, labor, subcontractors, transport, etc.) against approved budgets.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly cost reports showing variances and cash flow status.
- Ensure project funds are allocated properly and highlight overruns early.
Client & Supplier Payments
- Monitor client deposits, stage payments, and balances; follow up promptly to ensure timely collections.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor payments, reconciling against invoices and delivery.
- Maintain clear records for both advances and retention amounts.
Cash Flow & Petty Cash
- Oversee petty cash usage on sites, ensuring accountability and receipts for every expense.
- Track inflows and outflows, ensuring sufficient cash flow for ongoing works.
- Provide real-time updates to management on project liquidity.
Financial Systems & Compliance
- Maintain proper accounting records in line with company standards.
- Support tax and statutory compliance (VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, etc.).
- Recommend cost control strategies to improve margins and efficiency.
Reporting & Oversight
- Prepare concise weekly reports to management and detailed monthly summaries.
- Work closely with the CEO and Operations Manager to align financial planning with project execution.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and integrity in handling company and client finance.
Qualifications
- CPA (K) qualification is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in construction, interior design, or project-based accounting.
- Strong knowledge of project cost control, budgeting, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or ERP systems an added advantage).
