The goal of this assignment is to ensure optimal design, pricing and monitoring of the DRIVE index-based livestock insurance product and provide timely analysis of the financial consequence of risk and use numerical, statistics, and financial theory to study uncertain future events, in relation to climate risk. The officer will also be required to work on other financial products deemed relevant to the target market.

Job Details
- Explore parametric product design aspects using best practice pricing techniques.
- Review, adapt and strengthen (as necessary) existing forage drought index insurance risk models. Including analysis of the forage data to develop indices and assessment of trends, building of recent design and actuarial reviews. Analysis to be performed in auditable spreadsheets and programing code for ease of review.
- Review appropriateness of index insurance triggers (attachment/exit) for possible micro-meso-level applications and present scenario analysis on the same.
- Ensure product design is in line with regulations and takaful compliance as necessary.
- Season monitoring and reporting of the product impact on the market.
- Analysis of climate trends and provide insights on their overall impact on the market and project.
- Participate in other financial products’ development and ongoing monitoring of these solutions for future improvement.
- Collaborating with the team in the preparation, launch, training, and marketing of products.
- Maintain records and documentation on products and enhancements.
- Provide support for internal and external audits of the existing products.
- Building and maintaining customer relationships and handling correspondence to and from stakeholders.
- Collecting and monitoring customer feedback and client experience and resolving customer queries and grievances.
- Carry out data analysis, market research and industry analysis to inform future product development and enhancement.
- Attend to any other duties that may be assigned.
Requirements
- An Actuarial Science degree from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 2- 3 years’ experience in parametric insurance solutions with an insurance/ reinsurance company.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python, R
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Visio and other analysis programs
- Experience in designing index-based agriculture insurance products will be an added advantage
