The Authority is seeking to recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven individuals to fill the following vacant position

  • Undertaking and coordinating investigation in the maritime field;
  • Conducting investigation into maritime casualties including wreck under the Casualty Investigation Code;
  • Undertaking enquiries with respect to charges of incompetence on the part of the seafarers;
  • Implementing the Nairobi Wreck Removal Convention;
  • Taking the command and preservation of vessels and lives of persons and cargo when ship is wrecked in Kenyan waters;
  • Reporting outcomes of maritime casualty investigations as required by IMO to the DG;
  • Publishing lessons learned from casualty investigation
  • Evaluating flag, port and coastal state obligation, performance and effectiveness;
  • Investigating occupational accidents;
  • Investigating seafarers and ships certificate suspensions and withdrawal.

  • Certificate of Competency – Deck Officer (STCW)
  • Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree Marine Environment
