Job Purpose

Responsible for managing investment portfolios for high-net-worth clients, and other internal funds, ensuring optimal asset allocation and performance in line with investment objective and risk tolerance. They work closely with the Head of Wealth Management/CIO and other team members to deliver comprehensive and customized investment solutions. The role will involve continuous market analysis, portfolio monitoring, and client communication to achieve superior investment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement investment strategies tailored to clients’ financial objectives and risk profiles.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of market trends, economic data, and investment opportunities to inform portfolio decisions.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, and alternative investments.

Portfolio Management:

  • Manage and oversee investment portfolios, ensuring they are diversified and aligned with the agreed-upon strategy.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, rebalance as necessary, and make adjustments to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Utilize financial modelling and analysis tools to project potential returns and risks for different investment scenarios.

Client Communication and Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates to clients on portfolio performance, market conditions, and strategic changes.
  • Prepare detailed investment reports and presentations for client meetings.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns promptly, maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and trust.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth research on investment opportunities, market trends, and economic developments.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimal portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with research analysts and other experts to gather insights and enhance investment decisions.

Collaboration and Team Support:

  • Work closely with wealth managers, financial advisors, and other team members to develop integrated financial solutions for clients.
  • Participate in internal meetings to discuss investment strategies, market outlook, and client cases.
  • Contribute to the development of the wealth management division’s strategic initiatives and goals.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Monitoring and Research:

  • Continuously monitor financial markets, economic indicators, and global events that may impact client portfolios. Conduct in-depth research on investment opportunities and potential risks to stay informed and make data-driven decisions.

Portfolio Analysis and Rebalancing:

  • Analyze the performance of client portfolios, ensuring they are aligned with investment strategies and risk tolerance. Perform regular rebalancing of portfolios to maintain the desired asset allocation and optimize returns.

Client Communication and Reporting:

  •  Prepare and deliver detailed reports on portfolio performance, market conditions, and strategic changes to clients. Communicate regularly with clients to address their concerns, provide updates, and ensure they understand the rationale behind investment decisions.

Investment Strategy Development:

  • Collaborate with the wealth management team to develop and refine investment strategies tailored to individual client goals. Conduct scenario analysis and financial modelling to evaluate potential outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary.

Team Collaboration and Meetings:

  • Participate in daily team meetings to discuss market trends, investment opportunities, and client cases. Work closely with wealth managers, financial advisors, and research analysts to integrate insights and support the overall wealth management objectives.

Requirements

  • Must have a Business related or equivalent Degree from a recognized institution. 
  • Must have CFA, CPA, CISA, CCMS, ICIFA, ACCA or part CFA certification or equivalent
  • Possession of a Masters Degree in Finance, Strategic planning or Business will be an added advantage
  • 4 or more years’ experience in a Portfolio Management
  • Knowledge of operations of the Capital Markets Authority, Nairobi Security Exchange and Central Depository Settlement Corporation
  • Have knowledge of the regulatory environment and have a thorough understanding of the Capital Markets products and services
