Purpose of the Job

To take the overall management of a pharmaceutical outlet in Kampala by handling the reception, verification of prescriptions and dispensing drugs in a timeously and within approved standards and procedures as to meet or exceed the expectation of the patients.

Remuneration: negotiated attractive compensation scheme shall be accorded to the right candidate

  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications
  • Manage and monitor pharmaceutical inventory
  • Review and verify written prescriptions for authenticity, validity, indication, dose, strength route, form, duration, drug interactions and dispense drugs in a proper manner.
  • Verify expiry dates of drugs prior to dispensing.
  • Maintain prescription records, for proper maintenance of records, and retrieval
  • Compute and record pharmacy financial transactions daily
  • Conduct patient counselling on medicines, devices and adherence to therapy.
  • Maintain a database of inventory management of drugs and supplies, their storage and handling and updating of the inventory records on a regular basis, to ensure product conformity.
  • Monitor drug consumption, ad hoc drug requests, out of stock drugs, and non-stock drug orders and prepare reports and determine re-order levels to be set on the IT System.
  • Maintain strict control over usage of controlled drugs such as narcotics, for compliance with policy on dangerous drugs, and avoid misuse.
  • Monitor and record adverse drug reactions and medication incidents.
  • Schedule and conduct operational and quality indicator audits.

Education Qualifications

  • Diploma in pharmacy
  • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Good knowledge of pharmacy law and practices in Kenya/Uganda

Desired Characteristics

  • At least one year experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of pharmacy law and practices in Kenya/Uganda
