Part-Time Handball Coach designing and executing a progressive handball training programme to develop student-athletes’ technical, tactical and fitness skills, requiring a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Physical Education or Sports Science, valid Handball Coaching Certification and minimum 3 years coaching youth or high-school teams, in an education environment, on-site role.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Part-Time Handball Coach will design and execute a progressive handball training program to identify, develop, and mentor talented student-athletes. The role holder will focus on building fundamental technical and tactical skills, strength and conditioning, and psychological preparedness within a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment in alignment with the Academy’s values.

Key Responsibilities

• Training & Strategy: Develop and deliver structured, sport-specific individual and team training plans. Conduct scheduled training sessions per week as aligned with the school calendar. 
• Athlete Development: Identify, develop, and expose high-potential players to competitive opportunities while ensuring equal participation and skill progression for all student-athletes. 
• Mentorship & Values: Educate players on handball rules, sportsmanship ethos, and personal lifestyle planning (incorporating recovery, academics, and life skills). Act as a positive role model on and off the court. 
• Safeguarding & Supervision: Supervise players to ensure a safe, player-focused training environment. Maintain strict adherence to child protection standards and promptly report injuries, accidents, or safeguarding concerns. 
• Program Administration: Maintain accurate attendance records, manage sports equipment inventories, track player progress, and submit termly review reports. 
• Competitions: Prepare, lead, and support teams during scheduled external tournaments, friendly fixtures, and internal sports events.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

• Program Delivery: Smooth execution of handball training programs, seasonal fixtures, and tournament outings. 
• Athlete Growth: Measurable improvement in student-athlete technical proficiency, fitness levels, and competitive performance. 
• Compliance & Safety: 100% adherence to safeguarding policies, accurate equipment tracking, and timely termly reporting.

TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field. 
• Professional Certification: Valid Handball Coaching Certification/License from a recognized national or international governing body (e.g., KHF, CAHB, or IHF).
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience coaching youth or high-school handball teams, with a track record of athlete development and competition management. 
• Competencies: Strong mastery of handball tactics and training methodologies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and commitment to inclusive, student-cantered coaching.
