Job Overview
The officer – Funds Transfer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payment transactions within the Document Management System (DMS). The role ensures compliance with the Bank’s internal policies, Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) prudential guidelines, and international trade finance standards.
Responsibilities
Processing of Funds Transfer Instructions (70%)
- Review payment instructions received through the Document Management System (DMS) to ensure they are valid, complete, and compliant with the Bank’s policies and CBK Prudential Guidelines.
- Liaise with branches and relevant stakeholders to obtain clarification where necessary.
- Perform due diligence checks in accordance with established procedures.
- Liaise with Branches, Correspondent Banks, Business Development, Credit Administration, and Treasury to facilitate smooth transaction processing.
- Ensure all outward payment instructions received from sister banks are processed efficiently and within agreed turnaround times.
- Ensure all inward payments are credited accurately, promptly, and without financial loss.
- Receive and respond promptly to payment-related queries from branches, Head Office departments, correspondent banks, and other financial institutions.
- Claim correspondent bank charges through MT191 messages for all incoming payments.
Customer Service (20%)
- Serve as the point of reference for payment-related enquiries from both internal staff and external clients.
- Provide professional advice on payment transactions and related banking services.
- Advise correspondent banks regarding draft cheques received from branches.
- Process stop-payment instructions for bank drafts where applicable.
Audit and Compliance (10%)
- Monitor Nostro accounts and CBK statements to facilitate reconciliation and ensure timely clearance of outstanding payment-related items.
- Perform daily reconciliation of incoming RTGS suspense accounts to ensure timely resolution of outstanding entries.
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational risk management procedures.
- Maintain accurate records for audit and regulatory review purposes.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field from a recognized institution.Â
- Any payment related certification.
Work Experience Required.
- 1 – 2 years’ relevant experience in a similar organisation.
