We are a Christian school in the education sector looking to recruit an additional Occupational Therapist. He/She will be responsible for conducting physical assessments of children, developing and following doctor-prescribed treatment plans, assessing the surrounding classroom environment and developing additional physical rehabilitation programs.
Responsibilities
Learner Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify learners’ physical, emotional, developmental or social challenges.
- Evaluate learners’ home and/or work environments to determine potential barriers to independence.
Treatment Planning
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on learner assessments and goals.
- Collaborate with learners, families, caregivers and interdisciplinary teams to set realistic, measurable outcomes.
Therapeutic Interventions
- Design and implement therapeutic activities to improve learners’ abilities in daily living and working.
- Use adaptive tools and techniques to assist learners in maximizing functional independence.
- Provide rehabilitative exercises and education on energy conservation and joint protection.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor learners’ progress and adapt treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatment sessions, progress notes, and outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and practicing license with the Kenya Occupational Therapists Association (KOTA).
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in a school, pediatric or rehabilitation setting.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
